Spilt are a psychedelic infused garage rock outfit from the satellite town of Runcorn. They produce a sound full of unhinged intensity layered with a heavy hitting drum backbone, critical riffs, distortion and delays with pounding bass lines filtered through effects designed to expand your head and blow it clean off. With a sound as chaotic and intimidating as their increasingly legendary live act, they leave audiences mesmerised by an awesome combination of a head-banging drummer, thundering bassist and charismatic front-man. “Psychedelic grunge” definitely isn’t the most common of sounds, but maybe that’s why Runcorn is near to Liverpool but far enough to add a touch of TNT to their sound. Spilt, were recommended to us by Kevin McManus Head Of Unesco City of Music in Liverpool and Dave Monks at BBC Radio Merseyside’s Introducing programme, two people who have played a huge part in supporting the Liverpool music scene over the years and don’t just recommend anybody.
