Spear of Destiny - Futurama Festival 2021

Spear of Destiny

Spear of Destiny were formed in 1983 after the demise of Kirk Brandon’s post punk iconic rockers Theatre of Hate. Like Theatre of Hate before them, Spear quickly attracted a large following with their incredible live shows built around Kirk’s powerful vocals and brilliant lyrics. Without doubt one of the best live bands of the 1980’s, it’s this dynamism that has propelled Spear of Destiny forward to now 38 years later!  The current line up of Spear is the longest serving to date and features Adrian Portas (New Model Army / Sex Gang Children), Craig Adams (Sisters of Mercy / The Cult / The Mission) and Phil Martini (Jim Jones and the Righteous Mind)on drums. In 2020, it was the 35th anniversary of the band’s best known album “World Service” but it had to be postponed because of the pandemic and rearranged for Autumn 2021. Kirk always felt a little disappointed with the production and sounds on ” World Service” knowing that live the songs packed a punch that should have been right up there in the mix. So, during the Lockdown in July 2020, Spear of Destiny re-created and re-imagined the album in a very different manner. Massive drums, guitars and voice coupled with wonderful keyboard sounds and real soulful brass take these amazing songs to dazzling new heights. So expect most of this classic album on the night plus Spear of Destiny’s superb back catalogue of old and new songs. Spear of Destiny, one of the most life affirming bands in the world! I hear music…..
